Utilizing Device-based Hybrid Locations for 9-1-1

Enhanced location from device-based hybrid location services can be utilized in your PSAP for 9-1-1 calls.  During this webinar North Central Texas Council of Government (NCTCOG), RapidSOS, and GeoComm discussed what device based hybrid locations are and how they arrive at the PSAP.  The presenters also covered how combining this technology with indoor maps can help telecommunicators and emergency responders make smart decisions using this newly-available location type.

3D: The Next Dimension of Emergency Response

Next Generation 9-1-1 supports indoor location via sub address elements including floor and room, and in 2015, the Federal Communications Commission approved new rules for 9-1-1 call accuracy that for the first time include elevation.
 
This webinar covered the impact of indoor location and how public safety agencies can prepare for these technological developments that allow for more accurate and precise location information to be transmitted with 9-1-1 calls. In addition, webinar attendees also learned about the findings and conclusions discovered during a pilot project GeoComm implemented to study 3D mapping and indoor wireless accuracy.
