Region 26 Council Nebraska

Region 26 in central Nebraska was established in 1971 for the purpose of 9-1-1 communications and emergency management. The eight counties served by the communications center and emergency management include: Blaine, Garfield, Greeley, Loup, Sherman, Thomas, Valley, and Wheeler. Since 2004, the Region has partnered with GeoComm and established GeoLynx Software to capture and extract an address from an E9-1-1 call. The Region’s E9-1-1 Dispatch Communications Center works with GeoComm for the ability to map both wireline and wireless 9-1-1 calls. The address and location information is instantly submitted to the digital base map resulting in an instant depiction of the caller’s location on the 9-1-1 dispatcher’s map. Through a five-year contract GeoComm provides the region with the following maintenance services:

  • GIS map data maintenance (wireline layers)
  • Phase I wireless layers maintenance
  • Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) maintenance and
Automatic Location Identification (ALI) database support

“The GeoComm staff is always helpful, and we are pleased with the services received. Our GIS updates and changes happen quickly, and GeoComm is easy to work with to complete those updates. When we asked for new map layers for our Region, they created custom-made map details tailored specifically for us with no problems.”
