Project Update!! Field address verification began again on January 20, 2010. First pass address notification complete for the following zip codes: |
The process will begin with the Address Management Systems (AMS) conversion of current addresses. AMS will send address notifications to each resident based on their current address conversion database. GeoComm will begin address verification and official notification immediately following the distribution of the AMS notifications. This fieldwork entails visiting every habitable structure in the county to verify the address provided to the resident or business owner by AMS and simultaneously deliver an official address notification. Once this official address notification is received, the resident or business owner may proceed in changing their mailing address information on driver’s licenses, checks, bank statements, etc. The following information will be requested by GeoComm staff during their visits of all residences and businesses in Lee County: |
AMS Notification Status AMS sent out address change notifications to the residents in the Duffield Zip Code (24244) the week of October 19, 2009. Keokee and St. Charles zip code address change notifications were mailed out the week of 11/2/09. Big Stone Gap zip code notifications were mailed out to residents the week of 11/16/09. Pennington Gap zip code notifications were mailed out the week of 12/14/09. Jonesville zip code notifications were mailed out the week of 2/8/2010. Ewing zip code notifications mailed out the week of 3/8/2010. Rose Hill zip code notifications will be mailed out the week of 4/12/2010. If you are currently using a PO Box to receive your mail, you will not be receiving a notification from AMS. You will receive your new address during GeoComm's field address verification process, which will continue through May/June 2010. Please re-visit this site for current project status and updates |

Project Goal: The goal of the Address Notification and Verification project is to deliver an accurate physical address to every residence in Lee County for enhanced 9-1-1 purposes. The telephone database information will be updated to ensure the origin of a 9-1-1 call is mapped correctly and fire, law, and medical response teams are dispatched to the location of the emergency as efficiently as possible. |
