MSAG and ALI Database Development
Master Street Address Guides (MSAG) and Automatic Location
Identification (ALI) databases are necessary for successful deployment of
Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) systems. They are used in E9-1-1 to enable the
call to flow through the system, to assign appropriate responders, and
ultimately have the location of the caller display on a Geographic
Information System (GIS) base map.
GeoComm works closely with you, your chosen database provider, and all
participating wireline telephone providers to create these databases.
The MSAG and ALI database can be developed in many different ways.
Because it is vital for the MSAG, ALI database, and GIS map data to be in
sync, we create the National Emergency Number Association (NENA)
standard MSAG directly from the GIS map data and in turn use only
MSAG-valid addresses to update the telephone records for ALI database
development. Many of our processes are automated using tools developed
to save time and money and to increase accuracy. With numerous years of
experience, our tools have been developed, refined, and proven to develop a
quality MSAG efficiently.
Throughout MSAG and ALI database development, GeoComm completes
numerous comparisons which simulate a 9-1-1 call from each telephone
number. These processes help ensure a required percentage match rate
(between 96 and 99 percent depending on state standards) is attained
between the MSAG, ALI database, and GIS map data prior to going live with
a successful E9-1-1 system.
"I have enjoyed working with GeoComm! The map data analysis helped us ensure calls would
plot in GeoLynx 9-1-1 Dispatch GIS. I recommend GeoComm and, in fact, our neighboring
county purchased GeoLynx after my recommendation."
