"To anyone who has not made up their mind as to who they wish to handle their public safety GIS needs, let me try to influence you. We at Boyd Holt Enhanced 9-1-1 have used GeoComm since our inception in 2001. I could not ask for a better software application to use. GeoLynx 9-1-1 is understandable and versatile. The support staff I have dealt with over the years have been nothing but wonderful. They are friendly to deal with and have never failed to answer my questions and concerns in short order. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I have done so."

In the early 2000s the State of Nebraska recognized that public safety answering points (PSAPs) would need GIS data and software for wireless Phase I and II call locating. This is different from other states that determined mapping was only beneficial for Phase II calls. The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) recognized that other state agencies and local governments could also benefit from the creation of county by county GIS data for use by the entire state – interoperable GIS. An additional consideration was that outside the two Nebraska metropolitan areas: the cities of Lincoln and Omaha; other areas in the state did not have GIS expertise and therefore these jurisdictions could not be expected to develop and maintain data on their own.

"The City of Columbus-Platte County 9-1-1 initially retained the services of GeoComm in 1998 to conduct rural addressing and assist with E9-1-1 implementation. GeoComm was instrumental in the successful and seamless project completion. As a result, we chose to retain GeoComm as our technical consultant to assist us as we continue to explore new technologies in wireless communication and E9-1-1 services to provide the highest level of service to our first responders and constituents we serve. In addition to the E9-1-1 Project, we have consulted GeoComm's expert staff on Radio System upgrades, Audio Recording, and Mapping. Thanks to GeoComm, City of Columbus-Platte County was one of the first PSAP’s in Nebraska to have Phase II mapping capabilities and are now preparing to implement a multi-county public-private partnership Emergency Notification System, again another first in Nebraska thanks to GeoComm."
