GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst provides the tools needed to geographically define criminal activities in order to detect patterns, trends, and ultimately, make intelligent policing decisions based on actionable data

GeoLynx® CrimeAnalyst - GIS Crime Intelligence Extension

GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst is an extension for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.x that helps you to effectively analyze, forecast, and intervene in crime series by helping you perform the following tasks:

  • Locate and organize your cases
  • Identify the spatial extent of your cases
  • Identify the distribution of your cases
  • Identify the movement from one case to the next
  • Produce actionable deliverables (reports, charts, maps)

As a crime analyst, your first task is to locate where cases are occurring. GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst provides the tools and support you need to extract data from your CAD or RMS and accurately geocode cases into the ArcGIS mapping system.

GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst

With your cases located in the GIS, GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst gives you powerful tools to identify trends in spatial distribution and extent of cases across your jurisdiction. Hot spot mapping enables you to quickly identify high risk areas.

GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst

More than just hot spot mapping, GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst gives you the ability to perform analysis using the hot spots, by creating contours around hot spots. Using contours, you can select other information from the GIS inside risk areas, such as buildings or parcels. Demographic data can tell you if there are commonalities between victims of particular crime types within hot spot areas.

All crimes occur at a place and time, and GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst also gives you tools to examine the relationship of time to crime series. The unique aoristic data clock presents trends in time distribution of crime cases.

GeoLynx CrimeAnalyst

Use the more sophisticated crime series analysis tools such as the sequencer for identifying movement from one case to the next and a repeat victimization tool to identify possible repeat victimizations. Or use the Journey to Crime tool to create a spider diagrams of lines from a set of geocoded points to a single central point that are useful for analyzing vehicle theft and criminal movement, such as the distance traveled to crimes by one offender.
