Webster County, Mississippi recently installed a new Phase II E9-1-1 service that dramatically enhances their dispatcher’s ability to quickly and efficiently dispatch emergency response personnel. When a call comes into Webster County’s dispatch center, GeoLynx 9-1-1 captures the phone number of the caller, the address of where the call is initiated from, GPS location of that address, and directions of the address to where the call is from. This information allows their dispatchers to provide emergency responders with:
turn-by-turn directions to the emergency location
location images
location information such as property access points and physical structure locations
In addition, callers who are using cell phones can now be located within five feet of where they are using their phones. The dispatchers will still ask the residents their address for verification purposes, but if a caller cannot respond Webster County dispatchers are still able to send them help at their exact location.
“This program that GeoComm installed at our 9-1-1 center gave us the most updated and state of the art mapping system in Mississippi. Other 9-1-1 center representatives from all over the state want to see our program,” said Jimmy McLemore, Webster County 9-1-1 Director. “I highly recommend using GeoComm’s products. For faster and more detailed response of emergency personnel, use GeoComm’s mapping programs. Let it help save lives and property for you like it does for us.”
GeoComm installed the software at Webster County’s dispatch center in early December 2009 and trained the dispatch center staff on how to operate their new GPS-upgraded mapping system. The new technology was put to use the very next day when a 9-1-1 medical call was received from a local resident.
