200 plus Vehicle Mobile Mapping Project Completed

Implementation of 225 vehicles with mobile mapping, GeoLynx Mobile, and automatic vehicle location (AVL) was just completed by GeoComm in two Minnesota metro counties, Chisago and Washington. This project will enable the emergency responders in both counties to respond to emergency situations in less time and with more information at their fingertips. The project included integration with the 9-1-1 call taking equipment and software located in the communications center so when emergency calls are received or unit assignments are made from the communications center it is automatically transmitted to GeoLynx Mobile.

This project brings the GeoLynx Family of Products full circle in Chisago and Washington counties. Presently, both agencies utilize GeoLynx 9-1-1 Dispatch GIS to map emergency calls in the communications center. A GeoComm custom developed interface between GeoLynx 9-1-1 and their Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system provides seamless communication between the mapping and call taking software and now also the responder vehicle. AVL offers enhanced usability too because responder units are viewable from the digital mapping software. In addition, the GIS data for this project is ESRI ArcGIS format and is maintained utilizing GeoComm's E9-1-1 Data Management System, GeoLynx DMS.

GeoComm's software system provides Chisago and Washington Counties with the following benefits:
• Faster response times due to full system integration of Dispatch GIS with Mobile Mapping
• Enhanced communication between call takers and responders due to one common operating system
• Easy navigation to emergency events with fastest routing and driving directions
• Efficient unit assignments with vehicle tracking
